Coaches are a vital piece of the puzzle within all sports. Whether you are a volunteer, a parent, or a paid coach, you have the opportunity to influence tamariki and rangatahi to enjoy sport, develop movement skills, and participate for life. Coaching is an amazing way to enrich your life, connect with your community, and stay involved in sports.
Sport Northland conducts a Voice of the Coach Survey bi-annually to gather insights from coaches in the Northland region.
Insights are used to guide the direction of our coaching mahi to ensure we are enhancing opportunities for Northland coaches to flourish, thrive and enjoy their journey.
2025 Coaching Kaupapa
Kokiri ai te Waka Hourua, the regional strategy for play, active recreation and sport in Te Tai Tokerau suggests an important objective which refers to having a ‘strong, supported coaching network’ throughout Te Tai Tokerau. This includes providing effective, local implementation – ensuring the community is heard and represented.
Learn more about how we are doing this below.
We all want tamariki and rangatahi to play and develop in a safe and supportive environment, where they’re encouraged to gain maximum enjoyment from what they are doing. Sport NZ offers a free learning tool for every volunteer or paid member of staff coming into contact with tamariki and rangatahi in the sector - click here to find out more.
