If you live in Kerikeri, or near vicinity, it appears that you have a better chance of winning the major spot prize in the annual Sport Northland Run/Walk Series.

This fact was proven recently when the lucky draw was made at the conclusion of the seven event series, which is held between Kaitaia and Mangawhai during the year, and yet another northerner was the winner.

With only Northland adults being eligible to win the major prize, Kerikeri’s Cindylee Joyce could not believe her luck when she found out that she was the winner of Pacific Motor Group’s Mazda 2, which was the major spot prize for the 2016 Sport Northland Run/Walk Series.

With this being the eleventh year that Pacific Motor Group has given away a car as the major spot prize Sport Northland’s Business Development Manager Colleen Atchison says it is amazing how many cars have been won by Far North competitors.

“Seven of the cars have gone to participants living between Whakapara and Kaitaia with three of these actually going to Kerikeri. There have been no winners south of Whangarei,” she said.

Having beaten the odds and only competed in one of the seven events in the series, Cindylee was unaware that a car was in fact being given away. So when she missed the call from the More FM Breakfast team to tell her of her win, her cellphone suddenly began beeping with texts from friends who had heard the call.

Initially thinking this was all a hoax, it was not until she received confirmation from Sport Northland that it was no joke and she had in fact won the Mazda 2, could she enjoy the moment.

Joyce admitted she had recently been turned down on getting a loan to buy a new car so she was more than happy to head to Whangarei where she was presented with the winning car from Pacific Motor Groups Mazda Sales Manager Graham Mitchell.

A three way partnership between Sport Northland, More FM and Pacific Motor Group has seen eleven cars given away since the series began in 2006.
