KiwiSport Funding Applications Open

Applications are now open for Sport Northland’s annual KiwiSport Regional Partnership Funding round.

KiwiSport funds are allocated by Sport Northland to support sport participation for 5-18 year olds. The primary purpose of the funding is to either Increase participation (new participants), additional opportunities (new competitions and programmes), or improve skills. Aligned to these are particular focus areas identified as those under-represented in current participation s data. This includes participants identified as Maori, Pacifica or Asian, Female participants aged 13-18 years, participants in communities with high economic and social deprivation, low participant communities where isolation and travel or lack of facilities are barriers.

Applicants are required to identify what participants are being targeted and where they will be delivering. There is a component of sustainability to each application where a contribution to the delivery cost out-lined in the application will be expected and a link for on-going participation at a club or other organisation is identified. It is anticipated applicants will identify other partners to the funding. There is accountability  due at the end of the delivery in the form of reporting participants who benefited from the funding by participating, for how long and how often.

Part of the funding is ring fenced to address travel for participation in the  Far North and Kaipara where funding is matched and applications for support occur via the District Councils. Some funding is ring fenced to Secondary schools to support existing sport coordinator network to increase participation for secondary school students in their schools.

Applications open on 1 September and are due by 15 October when the applications will be reviewed and decisions made. More information here
