Sport Northland is pleased to announce a new partnership has been developed with Toll who will be the naming rights sponsor of the annual Kaitaia Run/Walk to be held on Sunday 14 August. This is the fifth event in the popular Sport Northland Run/Walk Series and will allow walkers and runners to have the option of picking either the longer 12.5km route or the shorter 4.6 km option.
Sport Northland Business Development Manager Colleen Atchison says it is wonderful to have Toll on board as a sponsor of Sport Northland.
“Sponsorship makes it possible to stage events, so Sport Northland is grateful to Toll for not only their support of the Kaitaia event, but for all the extra help and assistance they give to Sport Northland”.
The start gun will fire for the runners to set off at 9.00am with the walkers following straight afterwards. The shorter 4.6 km option will finish at the Oturu School where free buses will transport the participants back to the Te Ahu Centre, while the 12.5km event will continue around the Church Road loop to the finish line at the Te Ahu Centre.
The first three events in the Run/Walk Series were dominated by top Northland runners Harry Linford and Carolyn Younger. However with both runners unable to compete in the Dargaville Veterinary Centre Baylys 2 Dargaville Run/Walk, the NorthCloud Leaderboard is wide open with an opportunity for Katie McVerry (Whangarei) and Louis Young (Warkworth) to climb to the top, if they win the Kaitaia event.
More FM will once again host the post event prize giving at the Te Ahu Centre at 11.30am where lots of great spot prizes will be won including Fullers GreatSights trips, ThermaTech gear, a Merida bike from MyBike Whangarei, Smiths Sports Shoe vouchers plus an iPad mini from NorthCloud. All Northland adults who enter the event will go into the draw to win a Mazda 2 from Pacific Motor Group. The Mazda 2 will be drawn two weeks after the final event in the series, the ASB Kerikeri Half Marathon which is being held on Saturday 19 November.
Discounted entries for the Kaitaia Run/Walk sponsored by Toll close on 31 July with all entries closing on 10 August. Entries can be made online at Click here or contact Sport Northland.
The final two events in the series will be the ACC Whangarei Half Marathon and 9km Run/Walk on Sunday 18 September which will start and finish at the Whangarei Town Basin and the ASB Kerikeri Half Marathon on 19 November.
