Mangawhai the venue for Sport Northland’s Second Event

Entries are tracking well for the annual Hot Printz Mangawhai Heads 2 Hub Run/Walk to be held on Sunday 3rd April. Being the second event in the 2016 Sport Northland Run/Walk Series, competitors have the option to either run, fast walk, casual walk or pram stroll either the 8.5km or 5.5km course.

Free buses will leave from Carters, Moir Street in Mangawhai to take competitors to the start line.

The 8.5km event will start at the Mangawhai Heads Ocean Beach Car Park while the shorter 5.5km will start outside the Wood Street Shops at Mangawhai Heads. Both categories will then finish together in the rear carpark at The Hub where the post event prizegiving will be held.

The first competitor’s home in the 8.5km run will earn points on the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series NorthCloud Leader Board. Currently after the first event in the series the Chilltech Beach 2 Basin, Whangarei runners Harry Linford and Carolyn Younger are leading the charge.

Some great spot prizes will once again be on offer with a number of Thermatech prize packs, an iPad mini from NorthCloud and a mountain bike from Mybike in Whangarei being on the list.

Being part of the 2016 Sport Northland Run/Walk Series, means this event has the added bonus of every Northland adult who competes, going into the draw to win a Mazda 2 car donated by Pacific Motor Group.

Sport Northland’s Business Development Manager Colleen Atchison says it is great to have another car as the major spot prize for the series this year.

“This is the eleventh car to be given away by Pacific Motor Group as an incentive for people to become more active,” she says. “The lucky draw will take place following the final event in the series – the ASB Kerikeri Half Marathon on 19 November”.
