Robyn’s Strength Knows No Age: From Balance Classes to Gym Workouts

At almost 90 years old, Robyn is proving that fitness has no age limit. Having started with Strength and Balance classes in Kaitaia, she quickly realized how vital it was to keep her muscles strong. "I did not realize how much I needed to keep my muscles strong, and once I started going to the Strength and Balance classes a few months ago, I noticed I was getting stronger again," she shared.

Now, Robyn has taken her commitment to the next level—hitting the gym three times a week and even adding aqua aerobics to her routine. Lifting weights has become her new passion, and she loves the sense of progress and energy that each workout brings.

Brendan a Personal Trainer at the gym couldn’t be prouder. He says "Robyn is an absolute inspiration. She approaches every session with determination and a willingness to challenge herself, she’s proof that strength is built at any age, and she motivates others just by showing up and putting in the effort."

Another trainer, Wendy, admires her enthusiasm: "Robyn’s energy is incredible—she has a real love for lifting weights, and she’s always eager to learn new techniques. Her consistency is paying off, and it’s amazing to see her enjoying every moment in the gym."

Robyn’s story is a powerful reminder that strength knows no age. From her first Strength and Balance class to lifting weights at the gym and diving into aqua aerobics, she’s shown that staying active can transform not just your body, but your confidence and outlook on life. If you see yourself in Robyn—or if you’re simply curious about what a stronger, more balanced you could feel like—why not take that first step?
