Sport Northland Strength & Balance Coordinator and Sport Northland Play Lead organised a ‘Village Games’ to encourage play, physical activity and a positive interactions amongst residents of multiple retirement villages around Whangarei.
Activities included adapted versions of traditional sports, fun games, strength and balance circuit and even some logic puzzles and fine motor skills all rounded out with a relay race with all participants.
The Village Games was held at the start of SilverFest and just a few weeks before Play Week – portraying the way play and getting active is for everyone, it might just look different for different ages and stages.
The day was full of fun, laughter, and healthy competition – a real hit!! Check out the video here for a little glimpse of the amazing day!
