Ki-o-Rahi – It’s About Whanaungatanga

It’s not just a game it’s about coming together and playing together the essence of ‘whanaungatanga’ says Leela Hauraki, Sport Northland Kaiwhakahaere as she prepares for the Yr 5-8 Mid North Ki-o-Rahi event coming up early March at Lindvart Park.

Over the past two weeks Hauraki has delivered in 14 schools running Ki-o-Rahi refresher sessions and “promoting whanaungatanga through sport” a key message she values and drives in her deliveries.

“Without whanaungatanga the essence is lost. It’s about the people, whanau and the positive wairua and contribution they bring with them on the day, on the field and to the kaupapa as a whole says Hauraki”.

“Entries to the event are looking promising with 14 registered and the potential for more to jump on board, I’m looking forward to another fun and whanau day of Ki-o-Rahi” concludes Hauraki.
