Southern Cross Workplace Wellbeing Report

Southern Cross and Business NZ have come together again to produce the fifth edition of the workplace wellbeing report. The survey’s findings over the five editions have helped inform and motivate organisations towards better outcomes.

The report highlights how the pandemic has had a significant impact on the way businesses operate and challenges faced that were not apparent two years ago. Pleasing results showed that half of the organisation’s surveyed believe their role in employee health and wellbeing has increased since 2020 and there is a positive shift in the number of businesses noting a correlation between employee wellness and productivity. Other findings showed that working from home was largely viewed as a positive.

The report cautions that we remain vigilant in mental wellbeing as 66% of businesses reported an increase in stress.  In the area of mental wellbeing there is some good news with smaller businesses much more likely to have formal practices in place combined with informal discussions. Furthermore, workplaces (regardless of size), increased in employer assistance programmes, flexible conditions, mental wellbeing seminars and training for managers.

Overall, the report shows once again how important workplace wellbeing is in workplaces/businesses with up-to-date findings and an easy read.
