Great things are happening with Netball in the Northern Wairoa. With a recently formed executive committee they have hit the floor running. Starting with a very successful Sports Expo, Northern Wairoa Netball Centre had 121 children participate in a training circuit. Each child that registered went into a draw to win a personally signed ball by the Magic and Steel teams kindly. The lucky winners were Harmony Covcich and Ocean Mrkusich.
Kath Nathan president of the Centre (NWNC) said “aligning Northern Wairoa Netball to coincide with the Sportsville Concept gives the committee a timeframe to examine the possibilities and advantages that will come from a facility that will benefit the Dargaville and Districts Netball Community.”
The future ferns pilot programme Year 1-4 is a new initiative which will focus on developing player’s abilities enabling them to have better skills and knowledge of the game. This began in Dargaville on Tuesday 5th May with a satellite programme run at the same time in Ruawai.
NWNC are devoted to the development and retention of its membership. New initiatives were the Coaching Breakfast on Wednesday 30th April, Netball Holiday Programme 15th and 16th April and a pool recovery programme for injured players in May. The centre also has a comprehensive coaching and umpiring programme to offer in the upcoming months. To find out more visit our website www.sportsground/nwnetball or email nwnetball@gmail.com.
