The Silver Fern Farms Kaipara Sports Awards will be held on Saturday 2 November at the Maungaturoto Country Club. With over 70 finalists announced the evening will be well represented by the Kaipara sporting talent.

The night promises to again honour our local talent with the bonus of guest speaker Emma Foy recently back from the Netherlands where she won the gold medal in the 3km individual pursuit at the Para-Cycling Track World Championship.

The evening will begin at 6pm an hour earlier this year in anticipation of the Rugby World Cup Final that night. Guests are invited to stay back and enjoy the game at the country club after the awards.

A new category “Achievement Beyond Our Region” has been added to the awards with both Emma Foy and Aleisha-Pearl Nelson nominees. This category can be awarded to the person from the Kaipara District that lives outside the Northland region who has reached the highest level of achievement within their sport in open competition over the last 12 months that meets at least 2 of the 3 criteria - Born in Northland, attended a majority of their schooling in Kaipara or represented Northland at some stage. This person is not eligible for Sportswoman, Sportsman or the Supreme Award.
