In 2017, Bay of Islands Netball centre identified the need for providing free breakfast to their young athletes as there were many turning up for their games from 8am in the morning, cold and hungry, and sometimes were still at the courts until after 2pm waiting for their parents/whanau. Eating a nutritious breakfast every day kickstarts our bodies and trains, and this is important so that children can learn and play.
Through the support of the Executive committee members and participating schools, the Netball centre was fortunate enough to be provided with a range of nutritional food that provided a hot and healthy start to the young athletes.
The Netball centre has been able to continue this programme and in 2018, are now able to provide free breakfast to all junior athletes in and around the Lindvart Park facility including their siblings. This includes Hockey, Netball, Rugby and Soccer junior participants.
