New Collaboration Supports Bream Bay Locals to Get Active and Healthy

In a positive step towards improving community wellbeing, Sport Northland’s Green Prescription and Active Families programmes are now being delivered locally at the Bream Bay Community Support Trust in Ruakākā. This new collaboration means participants no longer need to travel to Whangārei to access healthy lifestyle support — it's now right on their doorstep.

Both programmes aim to support people in making healthy lifestyle changes through increased physical activity and better nutrition. The Green Prescription (GRx) programme works with adults who want to improve their health and wellbeing, while Active Families supports tamariki and their whānau to develop lifelong healthy habits together.

By teaming up with the Bream Bay Community Support Trust — a long-standing pillar of the local community — Sport Northland can now connect with more individuals and families in the area.

The Bream Bay Community Support Trust provides a wide range of services, from social work and counselling to parenting programmes and youth development. The addition of the Green Prescription and Active Families services complements their mission of empowering local people and strengthening the community.

If you're in the Bream Bay area and looking for support to live a healthier lifestyle — whether for yourself or your children, reach out to us on 0800 ACTIVE, alternatively you can learn more about the programmes below
