Introduction:
Indoor Bowls is played throughout New Zealand under the control of New Zealand Indoor Bowls Inc. Lifelong sport – players aged between 5 and 80+. Played indoors on a mat using a set of bowls similar to lawn bowls. The objective is to get your bowl nearest to the jack. Equipment is supplied by clubs. All players are asked to wear flat soled shoes.
Season:
February to October but played all year round.
School Programmes:
Two tournaments are run each year in conjunction with Sport Northland and Whangarei Indoor Bowls Association.

Open tournaments throughout the year
Northland Junior Singles late June each year – winner has free entry into National Final in August. All participants must be a member of a club and be under 18 years of age as at 1stMarch each year.

National Junior Singles August 29th – Wellington (Northland winner goes)
National Secondary Schools Championships August 30th and 31st - Wellington (Entry through schools)
