Taking Centre Stage During Northland Leadership Week

Northland Leadership Week took place at the end of June with former Whangarei Boys High Student Bradley Pitman being nominated as one of Northlands Young Leaders.

Part of the nationwide Sir Peter Blake Trust Leadership Week, nominees spent the week attending different workshops which included local entrepreneurs talking about their journeys so far, meeting and greeting with local businesses and with the last event being the Red Socks Day event where 17 year old Bradley gave a presentation of his journey so far as a dance coach and choreographer of a successful junior hip hop dance crew who is off to Las Vegas to represent New Zealand at the World Hip Hop Championships beginning of August this year.

Bradley also talked about attending a graphic design school last year in Wellington and he showcased some of his work he had done there. Once he had completed the course Bradley decided to move back to Whangarei where he started up a couple of businesses, one a design business specialising in designing posters, brochures, business cards etc and the other his own clothing label ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ where he designs and prints shirts from his garage at home. To end his presentation Bradley finished with teaching a hip hop dance routine for all the other nominees where he taught them how to do the ‘Dougie’, but not just any Dougie, this one was done in bright red socks to help celebrate Red Socks Day.
