New Appointment
Sport Northland is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Tamara Heremaia to the role of Northland Secondary School Events Coordinator. Tamara comes most recently from Whangarei Netball where she has been Netball Coach and Leadership Development Coordinator. Through this role she has had contact in schools with teachers and sport coordinators and is looking forward to the new challenges the secondary school events role presents. Tamara begins her role on June 4th.

Te Roopu Manaaki

Te Roopu Manaaki

Since the late 90s, Te Roopu Manaaki has provided support and guidance to He Oranga Poutama kaimahi and to seeing the implementation of projects.  In a review undertaken by Roopu members, Te Roopu Manaaki also provides support and guidance to all of Sport Northland to promote the kaupapa of increased Maori participation in sport and recreation.

The role of Te Roopu Manaaki is:
- To meet and workshop through He Oranga Poutama strategies
- To provide support and guidance (mentoring) for staff specifically appointed to develop and promote the kaupapa of increased Maori participation in sport and recreation
- To feedback to the respective areas on the opportunities that are being delivered by Sport Northland including He Oranga Poutama
- To ensure that the profile of He Oranga Poutama is promoted

The members of Te Roopu Manaaki include:
- Hohepa Rudolph - Kaumatua
- Pita Paraone – Maori Development and Trustee of Sport Northland
- Pauline Allan-Downs – Northland District Health Board
- Walter Wells – Regional Director, Te Puni Kokiri
